Eyelash Extensions

How long does it take to apply lash extensions?
Applying a full set of lashes takes about two hours, and can be maintained year-round with touch-ups recommended every three to four weeks.

Do lash extensions fall out over a certain period of time?
Since each lash extension is attached to a single eyelash, they will fall out naturally along with the natural growth cycle of each lash. We recommend a touch-up every three to four weeks.

Can you shower or swim right away?

Keep water away from your lashes for the first 12 to 24 hours after application or touch-ups. Water can weaken the adhesive before it is set and cause lashes to fall off.

Microblading

What is microblading?

Microblading is a type of eyebrow architecture. It is all about creating the best shape for each face – a totally bespoke approach for each client. The process is very precise thanks to the tool that is used which is effectively like a pen with the nib being a sloped blade with 10-12 little needles at the end - needles that don’t penetrate the skin but just delicately scratch the surface, much like a paper cut. The needle very finely implants featherweight strokes with a medical grade pigment on the epidermis layer for the skin, creating fine, realistic and natural hair strokes.

How is microblading eyebrows different to having your brows tattooed?

Microblading, unlike tattooing, is not in the deep layer of skin, but more on the surface. This is also not permanent, and the color fades within 18 months. The hair strokes are far more natural and finer than any tattoo, as a handheld needle/blade is used – there is no electrical gadget that permeates deep in this technique. There is therefore more of a scratching noise, rather than a buzz of a tattoo gun which pierces the skin so deeply.

How long does microblading last?

Microblading lasts anywhere between 12-18 months, but the longevity of the pigment will depend on your skin type. People with slightly more oily skin will tend to last around the 12 month mark before needing a top up, but those with normal skin can last up to 18 months. Your brows will eventually fade away if you don’t continue with top ups every 18 months or so. There is no scaring or discoloration with the pigments used, so you wouldn’t know if you left them to fade out.

What do I do (or don't do) before my Microblading appointment?

Here are some recommendations before your appointment:

1 Month Before Appointment:

  • Stop using any retinol or Vitamin A products

3 Weeks Before Appointment:

  • Do not have any botox injections.

2 Weeks Before Appointment:

  • No facial or facial peels.

  • No use of sunbeds or sitting in direct sunlight.

1 Week Before Appointment:

  • Do not pick, tweeze, wax or have electrolysis.

Less than One Week Before Appointment:

  • Do not take any natural blood thinners (i.e., fish oil, aspirin, and/or Vitamin E).

  • Do not wax or tint your eyebrows three days prior.

  • Do not drink alcohol 24-48 hours prior to your appointment.

On The Day of the Appointment:

  • No exercising on the day.

Okay! All finished with the first session. What are some post-care instructions?

1-7 Days:

  • Gently wash your eyebrows every morning and night with water and an antibacterial soap (ex. Cetaphil). Make sure all soap is rinsed away and dry by gently patting with a tissue. This will not remove the pigment.

  • DO NOT use any cleansers containing acids or exfoliants.

  • Apply a very small amount of coconut or rosehip oil to each brow morning and night.

  • Use a clean pillowcase

  • No picking!

  • No facials, botox, or peels for four (4) weeks.

  • Avoid exercise for one (1) week

  • Avoid direct sun for one (1) week

  • Avoid long, steamy showers for ten (10) days

  • Avoid swimming for ten (10) days

  • Don't wear any make-up or use skincare on your brows until they've healed.

  • Remember, your eyebrows aren't finished until after the second session.

Can microbladed eyebrows be undone/removed?

Yes – the pigment used leaves no scarring or discoloration, and I can use a salt/saline solution to remove microbladed brows. It is very important to know and understand that brows will be up to 40% darker in shade for the first 7-10 days during the healing process where scabs can form and flake off. Ladies can sometimes leave the studio, and two days later be terrified that their brows are too dark, but please be patient – as this is totally normal! After 7-10 days, you will begin to see the final coloring.

Facials

Why do I need facials?

A regular facial routine is more about skin health and maintenance than it is about luxury or pampering, although many do find it to be a relaxing, enjoyable experience. Facial services help increase circulation and stimulate the skin. They can also help slow down premature aging and drastically improve conditions such as acne, redness and Rosacea. Facials are a great preventative treatment to help you beat wrinkles before they occur, and can also help you achieve lighter, brighter, younger-looking skin. In addition to healthier skin, many men enjoy regular facials to help minimize irritation, redness, ingrown hairs, and razor burn associated with shaving.

How soon will I start seeing results from my facial?

Some people see results immediately, and your skin should feel different right away. The skin feels, clean, smooth, hydrated, and reflects a new level of health that’s visibly noticeable. If the skin has more advanced long-term needs, such as treatment of skin aging, acne or hyper-pigmentation caused by hormonal fluctuations or sun damage, results may not be immediately visible; however, skin health will continue to improve as you follow the advice of your professional skin therapist, and continue your home-care regimen.

How can seasonal changes affect my skin?

Similar to the seasons, skin goes through its own fluctuations. Combine nature’s weather cycle with air conditioning and forced-air heating, and you have skin that’s constantly under assault. Cold winds and low temperatures can dry out skin, depriving it of balanced levels of oils, contributing to dryness, sensitivity and premature aging. Prolonged exposure to the sun causes water to evaporate from skin, which is why skin that has recently been burned or tanned requires more moisturization than unexposed areas. Forced-air heating also dries out skin: warm, dry air acts like a sponge, soaking up moisture from everything it touches.

How often should I get a facial?

Generally, facials are recommended once a month. However, you can discuss your specific needs, desired outcomes and schedule with your esthetician.

Waxing

What’s the difference between a bikini line, bikini full and Brazilian wax?

Bikini line is a basic tidy; we wax the sides (panty line) and across the top. If you’re wearing a bikini, this will prevent any hairs from being seen.

Bikini (full) is the next step and allows you to take off as much or as little hair as you like off the front. If you want to leave a small "landing strip", triangle or nothing at all, it’s up to you!

Brazilian goes from the front, all the way to the back with an added butt strip.

How should you prepare for a wax?

  • Refrain from taking a shower or bath immediately before the treatment. Soaking the hair will soften it, allowing it to break more easily and making waxing less effective.

  • Make sure that the area(s) to be waxed are clean.

  • There are certain medications and products that should not be taken or used if you plan to have a waxing treatment soon. Topical exfoliants used on the area to be waxed such as Retin-A, Renova, and hydroquinone, oral acne medications such as Accutane, blood-thinning medications, and topical/oral cortisone make the skin more sensitive and increase the likelihood of irritation or other complications. Please check with your doctor if you are unsure whether you should be waxed while on or using a medication.

How long is long enough for my hair to get waxed?

Let the hair grow to about ¼ inch so the wax can grab the hair.

How can I prevent ingrown hairs?

For the next 24-48 hours avoid on the waxed areas:

  • use of exfoliating products (Alpha-Hydroxy Acid (AHA) products, loofahs, scrubs, etc.)

  • direct sun exposure and tanning beds

  • creams with fragrance or ingredients that may irritate

  • deodorant: it results in irritation and clogging of open follicles

  • wearing tight clothing: results in irritation and inflammation

  • excessive heat, such as that from hot tubs and saunas. Warm showers are okay.

  • exercise, if it may cause chaffing or sweating

  • touching the freshly waxed area: this encourages irritation

  •

After 24-48 hours, regular exfoliation with a shower gel and loofah or exfoliating glove will help keep skin soft and prevent ingrown hairs.

Can I wax during that time of the month?

Yes, however just be aware that the area is more sensitive and you may experience more discomfort than usual.

Can I shave between waxing appointments?

Please do not shave between waxing appointments! It disrupts the hair growth cycle resulting in more hair at your next appointment.
